Welcome to ParaVox, the new anthology magazine from Tusen Serier, a space for anti-racist comics made by a collection of international comics creators.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
We live in a time when the political discourse is often both stupid and increasingly racist. With ParaVox, we want to be a counterweight to the kakistocracies, to draw the spotlights to various subjects in our issues where comics creators get to give their views on the things that are going on.
ParaVox will be a voice parallel to the mainstream, presenting comics that contribute to a process of decolonization that’s been going on all over the world for much longer than the hegemonic forces have acknowledged. We want to counteract the dehumanization that allows genocide and abuse to be rhetorically justified. Throughout history, systems of power have concealed their violence, to such a degree that some people (and their descendants) have been able to close their eyes to the injustices they’ve perpetuated. Meanwhile, those subjected to enslavement, exploitation and dehumanization have always understood their reality with clarity.
Sweden has long been rumored internationally to be a sort of socialist utopia, a wonder of equality and inclusion. We who live here know better, and we say “Enough!” because those rumors has created a space for our government/s to erode the promise of all those concepts along with legal security, asylum rights and even citizenship, to uproot worker’s rights in the name of profits, to destroy the welfare system to make space for tax cuts, and to do weapons trade with dictatorships and genocidal states. All while we’re expected to happily wave the flag and be grateful.
We are based in Malmö, Sweden, but we invite creators from all over the world to take part in this project.
Check the call for submissions for the first four issues, to be published during 2026.
